Originally from Scotland, I began my real estate career in Chicago in 1997. Through hard work and some creative marketing – featuring my dog, Belle – I quickly became one of the cities most successful agents. During a visit to Beverly Hills in 2001, I had the fortunate opportunity to meet with Rick Hilton and Jeff Hyland, who offered me a desk at the most exclusive brokerage in 90210. Two months later, Belle and I arrived in Los Angeles, embarking on a journey into a world of real estate and client relationships that most people can only dream of.
My first clients in LA were a newly married couple from London, seeking a home in the hills. Within a week we found the perfect spot in the Bird Streets, and closed the deal 30 days later. With no possessions other than the clothes they had arrived in, they asked me to furnish the home, hang art on the walls, and park three cars in the garage before they moved in. Never one to say no, I took on the challenge and handled everything. It was hard work, but I loved every minute of it. Following that, I was invited to meet with their Family Office and was appointed as their real estate advisor, overseeing residential property transactions in Europe and the USA.
It was then that I realized real estate is about much more than just buying and selling homes. It’s about trust and building lasting relationships, a lesson that has stayed with me ever since. Since that realization, I’ve had the privilege of becoming a trusted advisor and confidant to some of the world’s most accomplished entrepreneurs. Today, I continue to serve a select group of ultra-high-net-worth families, along with their family offices and advisors.
